Amid rising mental health concerns among young people in Australia, Scape and Year13 launched the first Gen Z Wellbeing Index in 2023.
Building on this success, the 2024 survey captured insights from over 2090 young Australians and 1250 Scape residents aged 18-24.
This year’s findings reveal a promising trend: 53% of Gen Z are now proactively seeking therapy to improve their mental health. Despite challenges like loneliness, anxiety, sleep deprivation, and cost of living pressures, Scape residents shine with better physical and mental health, improved sleep, healthier diets, and stronger social connections.
These results highlight the transformative power of thoughtfully designed student accommodation in enhancing young lives.
Scape residents are more likely to get enough sleep and to connect enough with family and friends compared to the national average.
Scape residents are more likely to be in excellent physical health and less likely to be in fair or poor physical health, compared to the national average.
Scape residents are more likely to sleep better and feel more energised when waking up, compared to the national average.
Scape residents are more likely to have a healthy diet and cook at home compared to the national average.
Gen Z Wellbeing Index 2023 report was a deep dive into the mental health, exercise, sleep and diet patterns of more than 1,000 young Australians and 900 Scape residents aged between 18 and 24 years.
The results were remarkably positive for young Australians living in Scape’s purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) buildings. The report shows the national wellbeing survey results compared side by side with the results of young people staying with Scape, who took the same survey.
